Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Bring ‘Traffic Buddy’ Initiative To Housing Societies, Encourage Citizens To Take Lead In Road Safety
Pimpri-Chinchwad, October 9, 2025: In a bid to strengthen road safety and civic engagement, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) has launched a community-focused campaign by taking its ‘Traffic Buddy’ initiative directly to residential housing societies.
A recent awareness and training session was conducted at Rhythm Housing Society in Wakad, aimed at equipping residents with the knowledge to effectively use the chatbot-based platform to report traffic violations, illegal parking, and congestion.
Led by officials from the traffic department, the interactive session demonstrated how residents can submit photo or video evidence of traffic issues via the ‘Traffic Buddy’ chatbot, ensuring faster and more transparent action from authorities.

“The initiative aims to transform citizens into active partners in maintaining order on the roads. Our goal is to promote responsible participation rather than just enforcement,” said PI Madhukar Thorat of the Wakad Traffic Department. He added that since April 2025, over 700 citizen reports from Wakad have been acted upon, highlighting the effectiveness of community collaboration.
Residents welcomed the session, calling it a step toward collective problem-solving. The PCPC has expressed readiness to organize similar workshops across more housing societies, encouraging residents to join the movement for safer, better-managed roads.
