The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has taken a major step to improve connectivity between Lohegaon and Viman Nagar. A missing 300-meter stretch, 20 meters wide, has now been acquired, paving the way for long-pending road work to begin. This development is set to transform the daily commute for thousands of residents and travellers.

To complete the project, PMC has floated a tender worth Rs 2.62 crore. The road work will start once the proposal gets approval from the standing committee. The missing link has been a significant issue for years, forcing commuters onto congested alternative routes, increasing travel time and fuel costs.

Once completed, the new road will ease traffic on the main route connecting Pune Airport and Viman Nagar. The new road will provide a faster, alternative route to the airport, reducing congestion on internal roads.

Apart from cutting travel time, the project is expected to improve road safety. Existing detours are often narrow and overcrowded, increasing accident risks. The new road will offer a safer and more efficient travel route. Urban planners have welcomed the move, stating that such projects play a crucial role in reducing congestion and boosting economic activity.

A PMC official stated, “The road work will begin once the standing committee approves the proposal. It will benefit many commuters and ease traffic.”

With land now acquired and the tendering process underway, the project is expected to significantly improve Pune’s infrastructure and mobility.
