Pune: PMC Allocates ₹200 Crore For Land Acquisition in 2025 Budget

Pune Cable Duct Scam Allegations: Complaint Filed, Legal Action Threatened
The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is set to allocate ₹200 crore for land acquisition in its 2025-26 budget for the first time. This move aims to expedite several critical infrastructure projects delayed due to pending land acquisitions, according to Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale. He also mentioned that the state government has been requested to provide ₹500 crore to support these ongoing projects.
The budget will be presented to the Standing Committee in the first week of March, followed by a general assembly for final approval. The funds will primarily address road-widening initiatives and the completion of missing links in the city’s Development Plan (DP), which have seen little progress despite previous allocations.
Dr. Bhosale explained that acquiring land for infrastructure projects involves providing Transferable Development Rights (TDR) or Floor Space Index (FSI) to property owners. However, many landowners prefer monetary compensation, which has been a challenge due to limited financial provisions in previous budgets.
The PMC has requested ₹100 crore from the state government to complete missing link roads and ₹400 crore to improve access routes to the railway station and airport. The budget preparation is in its final stage, with departmental discussions nearing completion and submission expected by the end of February.
