In a significant step toward resolving long-standing sanitation concerns in Kondhwa, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated immediate action following a meeting with local citizens. Sameer Punjabi of the Parge Nagar People’s Forum confirmed that a productive meeting was held with Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram (IAS.), during which issues related to garbage, open dumping, and poor maintenance were raised.

Acting swiftly on the commissioner’s assurance, Deputy Commissioner of Solid Waste Management, Sandip Kadam, visited key problem areas in Kondhwa, including Jyoti Hotel Chowk, Kondhwa Gaonthan, Parge Nagar, Kausar Baug Society, and Manish Park Society. Residents accompanied him during the inspection and pointed out open plots that have become garbage dumping grounds.

Kadam assured residents that immediate cleanup would be carried out. He also announced that notices would be issued to private plot owners instructing them to fence and maintain their properties. “If owners fail to comply, the PMC will undertake the task and add the cost to their property tax,” he told Pune Pulse. Additional measures like increased patrolling and public sensitisation were also discussed. A complete area-wise clean-up has been directed to local staff.
