Pune: PMC Commissioner Directs Ward Offices to Improve Transparency in Development Works

Pune Municipal Corporation Launches ‘Rangyatra’ App For Online Booking Of Cultural Centers
Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale has instructed all ward offices to upload detailed information about development works and the associated expenditures. The move comes in response to growing complaints regarding the lack of transparency in the civic body’s operations.
The order, issued on February 15, mandates that ward officers provide a comprehensive report on development projects undertaken during the current financial year. This report should include details such as budget allocations, the tendering process, the office General Resolution (GR), contractor names, work progress, completion dates, and the names of officers overseeing the projects.
The directive follows concerns raised by residents about delays in essential development works, including drainage and road repairs, which have been pending for years. Some residents have reportedly turned to the commissioner’s office after their complaints were not addressed at the ward office level.
The PMC administration emphasized that since the appointment of an administrator to oversee the city’s civic affairs, citizens have been directly contacting the commissioner’s office, citing dissatisfaction with ward-level responses.
Joint Commissioner B.P. Prithviraj assured that the new system would enable residents to access project details at their respective ward offices and seek clarification on any issues.
