The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated a strict campaign against pigeon feeding to tackle health risks and a rising pigeon population. Since December 9, fines totaling ₹56,000 have been imposed on 77 offenders across 20 hotspots, including Sarasbaug and Bund Garden.

Feeding pigeons is linked to diseases like hypersensitive pneumonia caused by bacteria in their droppings. While some residents criticize the inconsistency of the campaign, PMC assures that enforcement and awareness efforts are ongoing.
