Pune: PMC Deploys 18 Bolero Vehicles To Tackle Littering, Plastic Use, And Other Public Nuisances
Pune, December 24, 2024: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has distributed a total of 18 Bolero vehicles to various departments to strengthen penalty enforcement efforts across the city. The vehicles are aimed at aiding daily enforcement actions against public nuisances, such as littering, using banned plastic, dumping construction debris, spitting in public places, and burning garbage.

The PMC conducts regular penalty actions through its 15 regional offices and the central plastic team. These actions are crucial to maintaining cleanliness and enforcing municipal regulations. On December 24, 2024, the PMC received 10 Bolero vehicles, adding to the 8 vehicles previously provided on January 31 and July 18, 2024. These vehicles will be distributed as follows: one vehicle for each of the 15 regional offices, one for the central plastic team, one for the engineering department of the Solid Waste Management (SWM) division, and one for the sanitation department.
Since the implementation of penalty actions on October 2, 2023, the PMC has successfully handled 72,778 cases, collected a total fine of ₹4,03,71,921, and seized 6,268 kg of plastic waste.

The inauguration ceremony for these vehicles took place on December 24, 2024, and was presided over by Pune Municipal Commissioner, Dr. Rajendra Bhosale, alongside senior officials including Additional Municipal Commissioner (E) Prithviraj B.P., Deputy Commissioner of SWM Sandeep Kadam, and other key members from the SWM and sanitation departments.
Dr. Bhosale emphasized the need for regional offices to increase awareness and enforce penalties more effectively, particularly through the use of these vehicles. He directed that the vehicles be used in two shifts at the regional office level to maximize community outreach and penalty enforcement efforts.
