In a bid to promote participatory governance, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has invited residents to submit suggestions for developmental works in their areas for the 2026–2027 civic budget. Citizens can submit their proposals between August 1 and September 1, 2025, through their respective ward offices.

The initiative is aimed at strengthening grassroots-level involvement in municipal planning. Residents can recommend works related to roads, sanitation, public amenities, and infrastructure improvements. This model of citizen engagement was first initiated by NGO Janwani in 2006–2007, and has since paved the way for inclusive urban governance in Pune.

With no elected corporators in place since 2022, the civic body has been relying on such participatory measures to bridge the gap in local representation. According to PMC officials, proposals worth up to ₹75 lakh may be considered per ward depending on the scale of the work. In two-member wards, the cap is ₹50 lakh, and ₹25 lakh for single-member wards.

Common issues like footpath repairs, drainage cleaning, road patchwork, and streetlight installations typically fall under this budget category and are essential for maintaining civic infrastructure at the ward level.
