Pune: PMC to Distribute Property Tax Bills to 7.68 Lakh Property Holders Starting May 19
The Property Tax Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has prepared 7.68 lakh bills for property taxes. Starting from yesterday, Pune residents will be able to access their bills online through the PMC website. Tax payments can be made based on these bills.
Typically, PMC distributes property tax bills from April 1 each year. However, due to the government’s decision regarding a 40% discount in the third week of April, the bills for this year will be issued from May 15.
To make tax payments, citizens can visit the tax payment center and provide their property number. There is no need to carry a physical copy of the new bill; the property number mentioned in the old bill will suffice, simplifying the payment process.
Bills will be sent via email to taxpayers who have registered their email IDs with the municipality. Taxpayers with registered mobile numbers will receive an SMS with a link to download their bills. By visiting the property tax section on the municipality’s website and entering their property number, taxpayers can view their bills.
Ajit Deshmukh, the head of the tax collection department at PMC, stated, “7.68 lakh bills were uploaded online at 12 am last night. Printing has already commenced for the remaining ones and the distribution of the printed bills will begin on May 19, 2023 by post. The remaining 4 lakh bills will be generated and distributed between May 16 and 31.”
