Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued a public notice urging citizens to refrain from illegally cutting or damaging trees, especially in the wake of Holi celebrations. The civic body emphasized that tree felling without permission is a punishable offense under the Maharashtra (Urban Area) Tree Preservation and Protection Act, 1975, and offenders will face strict legal action.

According to the notice, tree conservation laws and guidelines set by the Bombay High Court prohibit any unauthorized tree-cutting activities. PMC officials have stressed that anyone found guilty of violating these regulations will face fines or imprisonment.

Strict Action Against Offenders

PMC has clarified that cutting or harming trees without prior approval is a serious offense. The law enforcement agencies have been directed to take stringent action against those responsible for such violations.
