Pune, July 15, 2025: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd. (PMPML) has collected over ₹21 lakh in fines during May and June 2025 as part of its drive to curb fare evasion and enforce discipline among its staff.

According to PMPML officials, ₹12.89 lakh was recovered from 2,578 passengers caught travelling without valid tickets during routine inspections. Each offender was fined ₹500.

Alongside action against fare evaders, disciplinary measures were also taken against PMPML drivers and conductors for various rule violations and misconduct. Chairperson and Managing Director Deepa Mudhol Munde stated that fines worth ₹8.44 lakh were imposed on staff members over the two-month period.

“In May, we collected ₹3.77 lakh in fines for eight cases of misconduct and 768 reported irregularities. In June, ₹4.66 lakh was recovered from 13 misconduct cases and 685 additional irregularities,” she said.

The combined efforts reflect PMPML’s commitment to providing a safe and accountable public transport system. Officials have urged commuters to buy valid tickets before boarding and cooperate with staff during their journeys.

This initiative is part of PMPML’s ongoing measures to strengthen operations and discourage practices that disrupt smooth transit services.
