Pune: PMRDA Clears 166 Encroachments In Hinjawadi
Pimpri, July 22, 2025: In a major drive to tackle traffic congestion in Hinjawadi and surrounding areas, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has taken action against 166 encroachments and unauthorized constructions over the past 15 days. The ongoing anti-encroachment campaign is aimed at restoring smooth traffic flow and reclaiming public spaces obstructed by illegal structures.
The areas affected by encroachments, such as Hinjawadi, Maan, and Marunji, have been causing severe traffic snarls, inconveniencing commuters and residents alike. In several locations, natural drainage systems and streams have also been blocked due to unauthorized constructions, prompting decisive action by PMRDA.

Key locations where encroachments were removed include:
- Wipro Circle – 14 encroachments cleared
- Laxmi Chowk to Mezza Nine – 38 encroachments cleared
- Maan Road Area – 66 encroachments cleared
- Laxmi Chowk to Marunji – 73 encroachments (action ongoing)
- Maan Village Nalla – 28 illegal rooms demolished
- Hinjawadi Area – 19 illegal hoardings removed
In total, 166 encroachments have been cleared so far.
Survey and eviction notices have already been issued for other encroached areas, including Shivaji Chowk to Smashanbhumi Road, Shivaji Chowk to Wakad Road, and Shivaji Chowk to Phase 1 Road. PMRDA officials reported that several encroachers have voluntarily removed their structures after receiving notices.
The drive is being carried out under the guidance of PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase, with supervision from Dr. Deepti Suryawanshi, Head of Unauthorized Construction Eradication Department, and Tehsildar Asha Holkar along with their teams.
PMRDA has assured citizens that the campaign will continue until all encroachments obstructing public spaces are removed.
