Pune: PMRDA Cracks Down On 3,510 Illegal Constructions In Three-Phase DriveÂ

Pune (March 19): Unauthorized constructions along national and state highways around Pune have been causing persistent traffic congestion. Taking note of this issue, PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase, along with other government agencies, launched a special three-phase drive, leading to action against 3,510 illegal structures.
To ease traffic flow, PMRDA collaborated with the National Highways Authority, Public Works Department, PMC, and PCMC for this extensive crackdown.
Three-Phase Demolition Drive:
1. First Phase (Jan 29 – Feb 13, 2025): 822 illegal structures removed from Nagar-Wagholi Road, clearing 82,200 sq. ft.
2. Second Phase (March 3 – March 13): 2,478 illegal constructions demolished on Pune-Nashik Road, Pune-Solapur Road, and Chandni Chowk-Paud Road, freeing 247,800 sq. ft.
3. Third Phase (March 17 – March 30): 210 unauthorized buildings cleared along Hadapsar-Dive Ghat and Pune-Satara Road, reclaiming 34,500 sq. ft.
In the last two months, a total of 3,47,300 sq. ft. of encroached land has been cleared, significantly easing traffic congestion in key areas.
