Pune: PMRDA Initiates Talks With Hinjawadi Farmers For Land Acquisition To Ease Traffic Congestion
Pune, August 7, 2025: In a step towards resolving traffic congestion and addressing civic issues in the Hinjawadi region, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase held a detailed interaction with local farmers at the Aundh office on Thursday regarding land acquisition for proposed alternate roadways.
Dr. Mhase assured the farmers that the acquisition process would be conducted with full transparency, dialogue, and without causing harm to anyone’s interests. He emphasized that the farmers’ rights and entitlements will be protected and highlighted that those giving consent for land acquisition will receive 25% higher compensation from the government.
The proposed road plans aim to significantly reduce traffic congestion in Hinjawadi and nearby areas. Dr. Mhase also guided farmers about available acquisition methods such as direct purchase, consent-based deals, Transferable Development Rights (TDR), and Incentive FSI options.
Farmers were briefed on compensation packages and were given a platform to share their concerns, which were addressed on the spot.
