Pune: PMRDA Launches Online Platform For Seamless Development ApprovalsÂ
Move Aims to Ensure Transparency and Efficiency in Urban Planning
Pune, February 25: In a bid to enhance transparency and efficiency, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has decided to transition its development approvals process to an online system. From February 26, 2025, applications for development permits, land use certificates, occupancy certificates, and other related approvals will be processed digitally. This decision was taken by PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase.
The online system aligns with the Unified Development Control and Promotion Regulations (UDCPR) and PMRDA’s 2018 guidelines for remaining areas under its jurisdiction. Maharashtra has already implemented the Building Plan Management System (BPMS) portal for standardizing the building permit process. This initiative follows the Maharashtra Right to Public Services Act, ensuring that government services are accessible online within a specified timeframe.
Applicants must submit development proposals along with necessary documents through the online system. The platform will automatically screen applications per regulations, process approvals at different stages, and generate challans for payment. Once payments are completed, certificates for development permission, land use, and occupancy will be issued digitally. This eliminates the need for in-person visits to PMRDA offices. Additionally, applicants will receive real-time updates on their file’s status via SMS on the registered mobile number.
From February 26, 2025, the service will be available at https://mahavastu.maharashtra.gov.in/. In case of difficulties in online applications, citizens can visit the PMRDA Development Permissions Department for assistance. Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase assured full support to applicants in adapting to the new system.
