The 14.5-km corridor between Yerwada and Katraj is one of Pune’s busiest stretches, witnessing heavy traffic throughout the day. To ease congestion and improve connectivity, the state government approved the project in principle during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on February 12.

On March 28, PMRDA issued a global tender for the feasibility study of an approximately 20-km-long underground twin tunnel. The study, to be completed in three months, will assess the project’s technical and financial viability, along with potential implementation models such as EPC, PPP, BOT, and HAM.
