Pune, March 5: A special drive launched by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has led to the removal of 904 illegal constructions across Pune city within just three days. The operation, which commenced on March 3 and ended on March 5, targeted unauthorized constructions on national and state highways surrounding the city. In total, over 90,000 square meters of illegal encroachments were cleared, helping alleviate traffic congestion in the affected areas.

The operation was conducted on major routes such as Pune-Nashik Road, Pune-Solapur Road, and Pune-Chandani Chowk to Paud Road. Starting from 9:30 AM on March 5, nearly 252 illegal constructions (spanning 25,200 sq. ft.) were demolished, with many local residents voluntarily removing their encroachments. 

During the first two days of the drive, 201 unauthorized constructions (20,100 sq. ft.) were cleared on March 3, and 453 structures (45,300 sq. ft.) were removed on March 4. The total demolished area over the past three days amounted to 90,600 square meters. Authorities have issued a warning to prevent further illegal constructions in these areas.

This operation was conducted under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase, Police Superintendent Amol Tambe, and other officials, including Sub-Divisional Officer Dr. Deepti Suryavanshi Patil, Junior Engineers Ganesh Jadhav, Harish Mane, Rituraj Sonawane, Pritam Chavan, Dipti Ghuse, Sagar Jadhav, Dipak Mane, Prashant Chaugale, Tejas Madne, and Vishnu Awad, with support from local police personnel.

Dr. Yogesh Mhase, the Municipal Commissioner, has confirmed that a survey of unauthorized constructions within PMRDA limits is ongoing and that demolition actions will continue.
