Pune, September 9, 2025: The Pune city police have arrested six more people, including notorious gang leader Suryakant alias Bandu Andekar, in connection with the murder of 18-year-old Ayush Komkar. With these arrests, the total number of accused taken into custody has risen to eight.

Ayush Komkar was gunned down near his residence in Bhavani Peth on September 5, allegedly as an act of revenge for the murder of former Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) corporator Vanraj Andekar — son of Bandu Andekar — who was killed in September last year. According to police, Ayush was shot multiple times in the parking area of Lakshmi Complex by Aman Yusuf Pathan alias Khan and Yash Siddheshwar Patil.

Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar confirmed that Bandu Andekar (68) and three others were nabbed from Mehkar in Buldhana district, while two more were arrested in Pune. All six accused will be produced before the court for custody remand. The police had earlier arrested Amit Patole and Yash Patil, both of whom are already in custody till September 12.

The FIR was filed at Samarth Police Station based on a complaint by Ayush’s mother, Kalyani Ganesh Komkar (37). A total of 13 people, including her father Bandu Andekar and eight other family members, were named in the case. Those arrested so far include Amit Prakash Patole (19), Sujal Rahul Mergu (23), and Aman Yusuf Pathan.

Ayush’s murder has further exposed the deep-rooted rivalry between the Andekar and Komkar families. Last year, Vanraj Andekar was shot dead near his Nana Peth residence, allegedly by Ayush’s father Ganesh Komkar, his relatives, and rival gang member Somnath Gaikwad. Ganesh Komkar, currently lodged in Nagpur jail for Vanraj’s murder, was granted parole to attend his son’s last rites.
