Pune: The misuse of pharmaceutical drugs for intoxication is on the rise, with many young individuals turning to medicinal substances as a cheaper alternative to narcotics. In a recent crackdown, Hadapsar police arrested two youths for illegally selling intoxicating medicines.

The accused have been identified as Yogesh Suresh Raut (25, resident of Manjari, Hadapsar) and Nisar Chand Sheikh (23, resident of Hadapsar). A complaint in this regard was filed by Police Constable Mahesh Chavan at Hadapsar Police Station.

According to the police, neither Raut nor Sheikh holds a pharmaceutical degree or a license from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Authorities received a tip-off about their illegal stock of medicines being used for intoxication.
