Pune Police Commissioner Transfers Kondhwa Senior Police Inspector Temporarily To Control Room
Pune, October 14, 2025: Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has ordered the temporary transfer of Senior Police Inspector Vinay Patankar from Kondhwa Police Station to the Police Control Room. The decision comes after a bribery sting operation exposed alleged misconduct by the officer.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau conducted a trap operation on Monday at Kondhwa Police Station, which revealed that a Police official had allegedly attempted to solicit a bribe to avoid making an arrest. The operation highlighted lapses in ethical conduct and prompted swift administrative action.
In light of the findings, the Police Commissioner has reassigned Patankar temporarily to the Police Control Room. This move ensures that the investigation proceeds without interference and sends a strong message about accountability within the force.
Meanwhile, the responsibilities of Senior Inspector (Crime) at Kondhwa Police Station will be undertaken by another officer appointed by the Commissioner. This step is aimed at maintaining smooth functioning at the station during the period of transfer.
The action underscores Pune Police’s zero-tolerance approach toward corruption and reinforces the department’s commitment to upholding integrity and public trust. Officials have emphasized that such measures are necessary to ensure transparency and strict adherence to the law within the police ranks.
