The Pune Police Commissioner’s office is set to undergo a remarkable transformation with the construction of a new state-of-the-art building. Planned in the shape of a ‘T’, the structure will boast modern amenities and facilities, reflecting contemporary architecture.

With the aim to enhance administrative efficiency, various designs have been proposed by different architects, and 11 designs have been finalized. The project has garnered approval from the Chief Minister and both Deputy Chief Ministers, and funding is expected to be allocated during the upcoming budget session.

Over the years, Pune has witnessed significant urban expansion, necessitating an upgrade in police infrastructure. Previously, some police stations were integrated into the Pimpri-Chinchwad area, but now, there’s a need for a centralized and expanded headquarters.

The estimated cost for this project is Rs. 242.99 crores, with administrative approval already obtained. However, the commencement of construction is subject to the availability of funds, which will be finalized post the budget session.

The proposal for this modernization project was forwarded from the Pune Police Commissioner’s Office to the Home Ministry, and subsequently to the State Cabinet. Once funding is secured, the bidding process will commence after obtaining technical approval from the Public Works Department.

Therefore, the planned redevelopment of the Pune Police Commissioner’s Office reflects a proactive approach towards modernizing law enforcement infrastructure to better serve the growing needs of the city and its residents.
