A police constable attached to the Kondhwa police station has been suspended after being accused of extorting money from a tourist. The incident took place at Bopdev Ghat, a popular spot in Pune. The constable, identified as Vikram Laxman Vadtile, allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹30,000 from a youth who was visiting the location with a friend.

According to the complaint, the tourist was carrying a hookah pot in his bag when Vadtile stopped and questioned him. The constable allegedly used this as an excuse to demand money, threatening to take legal action if the bribe was not paid. The tourist, feeling intimidated, negotiated the amount down to ₹28,000.

Instead of taking the money directly, Vadtile asked the youth to transfer the amount to his friend’s Google Pay account. The victim complied but later decided to report the matter. He visited the Kondhwa police station and lodged a formal complaint against the constable.
