Pune Police Cracks Down: Four Illicit Cafes In Hadapsar Busted For Encouraging Indecent Activities
Pune, May 8: In a significant crackdown, Hadapsar Police have registered a criminal case against four unauthorized coffee shops operating near Annasaheb Magar College for allegedly providing hideouts to students for inappropriate activities. The cafes were found running without legal permits and violating multiple public order norms.
The four establishments—Live Cake Shop, Delight Café, Café Coffee Fix, and Captain Café—had set up illegal plywood enclosures and drawn curtains to darken the interiors, creating private, concealed areas. Police say these conditions encouraged school and college students to engage in indecent behavior.
Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Mogle of Hadapsar Police Station confirmed that none of the cafes had valid licenses to operate. The investigation revealed that the owners deliberately created a space conducive to misconduct under the guise of a regular café setup.
A criminal case has been filed under IPC Section 223 along with Sections 129 and 131 of the Maharashtra Police Act, under FIR No. 444/2025. The offenses pertain to negligence in duties related to public order and running an establishment without proper authorization.
The raid was conducted following local complaints and regular police patrolling in the area. The college vicinity, a hub for young students, had seen rising concerns over such shady establishments being used for purposes beyond food and beverage service.
The police have assured that strict action will be taken against the café owners, and further inspections are planned in the area to prevent such illegal operations. The crackdown is part of a larger effort to ensure student safety and maintain public decency around educational institutions.
