Pune, October 8, 2025: Ahead of Diwali celebrations, the Pune Police have announced a complete ban on firecrackers that cause noise pollution between 10 PM and 6 AM, in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directives and the Environmental Protection Act. Strict action will be taken against those violating these rules.

According to the Supreme Court’s guidelines:

  • Sound Limit: Firecrackers should not exceed 124 decibels.
  • Ban on Chain Firecrackers: The manufacture, sale, and use of chain firecrackers containing over 100 units are strictly prohibited.
  • Silence Zones: Bursting firecrackers within 100 meters of schools, hospitals, and courts—designated as “silence zones”—is not allowed.

Additionally, bursting firecrackers in public areas such as roads, bridges, ghats, and key routes is strictly banned. The restriction also applies within 100 meters of these locations.

Temporary licenses for firecracker vendors will be issued from October 20 to October 24. The Pune Police have urged citizens to celebrate Diwali peacefully and responsibly, ensuring a safe and pollution-free festival.
