Pune: In a significant move to enhance law enforcement and public safety, the Pune City Police is set to launch the ‘Cop 24’ initiative tentatively on February 15, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurating the program. This initiative aims to strengthen police presence, ensure round-the-clock patrolling, and improve transparency in policing.

GPS-Tracked Patrolling for Efficient Monitoring

Under ‘Cop 24,’ the Pune Police will deploy 123 two-wheelers and 39 four-wheelers, all equipped with GPS tracking systems to monitor police patrols in real time. The Crime Branch will oversee the operations, ensuring continuous surveillance and accountability. Officers will be patrolling 24/7 to provide immediate assistance to citizens.

Body Cameras to Boost Transparency

To enhance accountability, all beat marshals will wear body cameras while on duty. These cameras will record all interactions at patrolling locations, preventing false allegations against officers and ensuring ethical conduct.

Women Beat Marshals for Women’s Safety

A major highlight of ‘Cop 24’ is the deployment of women beat marshals to handle cases related to women’s safety. Female officers will respond to complaints made via the police helpline, creating a comfortable environment for female complainants to report issues.
