Pune Police Rescue Three-Year-Old From Kidnappers in Ludhiana; Babysitter Couple in Custody
Pune, September 18, 2025: A three-year-old boy kidnapped from the Ranjangaon MIDC area was rescued from Ludhiana, Punjab, and a couple has been arrested in connection with the crime, police said on Wednesday.
The accused were identified as Poojadevi alias Vanita Arjun Yadav (37) and her husband Arjunkumar Yadav (36), both originally from Chausa, Bihar, and residing in Ranjangaon MIDC.
According to police, the child’s mother, who stayed with her brother, would often leave her son in Vanita’s care while the siblings went to work at a private company. On September 12, when the complainant and her brother returned home, they found both the boy and Vanita missing. Their phone numbers were also switched off.
Police Stated that the mother waited for almost two days before lodging a complaint. A case of kidnapping was registered, and Pune police traced the accused through technical surveillance. With assistance from Punjab police, the couple was arrested in Ludhiana and the boy was safely rescued.
During interrogation, the couple admitted to the crime, claiming they had no children of their own.
The boy has since been reunited with his mother.
