Pune Police Urge Ganesh Mandals, Officials to Work Together for Smooth Festival
Pune, August 19, 2025 – This year’s Ganesh Festival has been officially declared a “State Festival” by the government. Known globally for its grandeur, the Pune district Ganeshotsav is expected to be celebrated with the same enthusiasm, peace, and devotion. Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has appealed to all stakeholders—including the administration, municipal corporation, police department, and Ganesh mandals—to work in coordination to ensure a smooth, safe, and fearless celebration.
The appeal came during a joint meeting of Ganesh mandal presidents held at Bal Gandharva Rang Mandir, attended by District Collector Jitendra Dudi, PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, DCP Ranjankumar Sharma, Additional CP Manoj Patil, and representatives of Ganesh mandals.
Commissioner Kumar emphasized the responsibility of every mandal to maintain harmony and avoid disputes during the festival. He urged mandals to install CCTV cameras, exercise caution during electrical work due to ongoing rains, and remain vigilant against emergencies. The police have already taken measures for traffic regulation and crowd management.

District Collector Dudi highlighted that various government-led competitions and cultural programs will also be part of this year’s state-recognized festival. He called for collective efforts to elevate Pune’s Ganeshotsav to a global stage. He assured that special teams of officials have been formed to resolve issues such as power supply, traffic, and other logistical needs, ensuring maximum convenience for devotees.
PMC Commissioner Ram added that compared to previous years, the civic body will provide enhanced facilities this year. He appealed to mandals to present tableaux with strong social messages, in keeping with the legacy of the public Ganesh festival since the British era. He assured that all government departments are actively involved to make sure devotees face no shortage of facilities.
The meeting concluded with a call for cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure the festival remains peaceful, safe, and memorable.
