Pune, September 7, 2025 — The Pune Police Vighnaharta Trust organized round-the-clock emergency medical services during this year’s main Ganesh Visarjan procession, benefiting a total of 722 devotees. Of these, 48 patients required hospitalization for urgent treatment.

Medical aid centers were set up at key locations, including Belbagh Chowk, Appa Balwant Chowk, Narayan Peth Police Chowki, Laxmi Road (Gokhale Hall), SP College Chowk, and Puram Chowk.

The initiative was led by Prof. Dr. Milind Bhoi, along with Dr. Shantanu Jagdale, Dr. Nandkishor Borse, and other surgeons. A team of 124 doctors, volunteers, ward boys, nurses, ambulance staff, and emergency specialists participated in the effort.

  • Dehydration and dizziness due to heat and exertion
  • High blood pressure, ear pain, and irritation caused by prolonged exposure to loud sound
  • Ear pain among senior citizens, children, and infants participating in the procession
  • Cough, breathlessness, and suffocation from smoke and colored powders
  • Injuries from dhol-tasha performances and minor accidents
  • Hearing issues and temporary deafness among devotees standing close to DJs
  • Fractures caused by tractor wheels and crowd-related incidents

Hospitals and ambulance services including Seth Tarachand Hospital, Tilak Ayurved College, Motherhood Hospital, My Mauli Ambulance, Om Ambulance, and Jeevanraksha Ambulance extended special support. Among the patients were 52 police personnel.

Two major incidents were reported: at Laxmi Road, a tractor driver collapsed after a sudden seizure while driving but was saved due to immediate medical response. In another case, a woman police constable fainted during duty and was admitted to Seth Tarachand Hospital. Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil personally reassured her through a video call.
