Pune: Power Line Obstruction Delays Vitthalwadi-Funtime Flyover Completion

Pune: PMC Seeks Support From Govt Establishments On Waste ManagementÂ
The Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) ambitious Vitthalwadi-Funtime flyover project on Sinhagad Road has hit a roadblock due to a 132-kilowatt power line managed by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).
The high-voltage line, which runs perpendicular to the flyover at Hingne Chowk, needs to be raised to a height of 39 meters to facilitate the completion of the project. The obstruction has delayed the construction work for over three months, with only a small portion of the flyover remaining to be built.
According to Manisha Shekatkar, head of the PMC Electricity Department, the work of raising the power line will commence on November 27, 2024, and is expected to be completed in five days.
The Vitthalwadi-Funtime flyover is a crucial project aimed at easing traffic congestion on Sinhagad Road. The two-kilometer stretch is part of a larger infrastructure initiative that includes the construction of another flyover from Dhayari to Swargate.
Despite the delay, the PMC plans to inaugurate the flyover on January 26, 2025, coinciding with Republic Day celebrations. The target completion date was initially set for March 2025, but the accelerated pace of work has made it possible to prepone the opening date.
The completion of the flyover will not only improve traffic flow but also pave the way for the proposed metro line that will run above the bridge.
