Pune: Power Outage Hits Undri, Wadachiwadi: Residents Suffer 14-Hour Blackout After Heavy Rains

Heavy rains on Monday evening plunged large parts of Undri and Wadachiwadi into darkness, causing major inconvenience to residents as fallen trees disrupted the power supply. As of Tuesday morning, many residents have been without electricity for over 14 hours.

The downpour brought with it strong winds that uprooted trees in the area, damaging power lines and transformers. The resulting blackout has affected hundreds of homes, with only partial restoration so far. According to residents, the electricity supply has been running on a single-phase connection since last night, causing difficulties for households, especially those with medical patients dependent on power for life-supporting equipment.

Hatim Borigam, a resident of Tata Inora Park, expressed frustration over the lack of communication from authorities. “We are still on single-phase power and there is no proper update from MSEDCL on when full supply will be restored. Patients and elderly residents are facing a tough time,” he told Pune Pulse.

Adding to the chaos, roads across the locality were flooded, further compounding mobility issues and delaying repair work. MSEDCL officials, when contacted, assured that restoration is underway and that 75 percent of the area has been brought back online. The remaining 25 percent is expected to regain power shortly, with teams working through the night to repair the damage.
