Pune: 20,000 MSEDCL Consumers Of Bhugaon, Pirangut Get Power Back After Bridge Embankment Collapses
Pune, June 16, 2025 – Power supply to Bhugaon, Pirangut, and surrounding areas was disrupted around 2 PM on Sunday after the embankment of an under-construction bridge in Pirangut, being built by MSRDC, was washed away due to heavy rainfall. The incident caused a 22 KV Sky-I power line to snap at four locations, cutting off electricity to nearly 20,000 consumers.
Despite heavy rains and flowing water hampering repair efforts, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) workers continued restoration work through the night. Repairs resumed early Monday morning once water levels receded.
By 11 AM on Monday, power supply to Bhugaon via Ganeshkhind route was restored, providing relief to around 8,000 consumers. Complete restoration of the Sky-I line was achieved by 3 PM on Monday after all four damaged joints were repaired.
The successful restoration was made possible due to the dedicated efforts of MSEDCL officials, including Mulshi Subdivision Deputy Executive Engineer Anand Ghule, branch engineers Dampalwar, Nitin Dhas, Manoj Kaley, and linemen from Bhugaon, Bhukum, and Khatpewadi.
