Pune, June 11, 2025: To ensure the safety of tourists during the monsoon season, Pune District Collector and Chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority, Jitendra Dudi, has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) 2023 at major tourist spots in Lonavala and Maval taluka. The order will remain in force until August 31, 2025.

The locations covered include Ekvira Devi Temple, Karla Caves, Bhaje Caves and Waterfall, Lohagad Fort, Visapur Fort, Tikona Fort, Tiger Point, Lion’s Point, Shivling Point, and Pavana Dam—spots that see a surge in visitors during the rainy season.

Under the order, activities such as entering or swimming in fast-flowing water, sitting under waterfalls, taking selfies or videos at risky locations such as cliff edges, gorges, and slippery turns are strictly prohibited.

Two-wheelers, three-wheelers, cars, and larger vehicles are also banned from entering dam, waterfall, and river zones, with exceptions only for essential service vehicles.

Violators of these orders—individuals, groups, or organizations—will face penal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, 2023.
