Pune Pulse has been following up with the officials and also reported the concern of the residents twice, April 18 and May 12, 2025 in its news report.

In a long-awaited development for the residents of Parge Nagar in Kondhwa, the pending roadwork that had left the locality in a state of disrepair for several months has finally neared completion. This progress follows sustained efforts by the community and increased public scrutiny that brought attention to the issue.

Residents had been grappling with dug-up roads, open trenches, and daily hardships for over three months, with little to no response from authorities. However, a recent wave of civic engagement and awareness seems to have prompted the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to act, resulting in substantial progress on the road repair.

According to residents, around 90% of the roadwork has been completed, with only the final tar layer pending. The improvement has come as a significant relief, especially with the monsoon approaching and concerns growing over waterlogging and commuting difficulties.

Pune Pulse had also reported in its news report about the delay in road work leading to accidents. In its news report published on April 18, 2025 – a car ran over the under construction road leaving the residents worried about safety.

Local resident Sameer Punjabi, who actively participated in community protests, expressed gratitude for the collective efforts that led to the breakthrough.

“We are extremely relieved to see the roadwork finally getting done. Our repeated complaints and peaceful protests helped highlight the issue. It took three months, but the work has progressed well now. Just the last layer remains,” he said.

Sandeep Dipake, an official from road department, PMC stated that the road work is nearing completion. Within next few days it will be open for public to use.

City residents are now urging the civic body to accelerate all pending projects and ensure completion before the monsoon sets in. The PMC has assured that efforts are being made to minimize inconvenience and speed up remaining tasks.

Despite the wait, the progress in Parge Nagar has brought hope to other affected areas, showing that citizen action and persistence can lead to meaningful change.
