Pune Railway Division Holds Massive Ticket Checking Drive, 2 Lakh Fine Collected
Pune Division, Central Railway, conducted a massive ambush ticket checking drive at Patas railway station on 16 June 2025, under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Kumar Verma and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Anil Kumar Pathak, and under the supervision of Divisional Commercial Manager Hemant Kumar Behera.
As part of the drive, a total of 16 trains—including 7 on the Down platform and 9 on the Up platform—were given 5-minute halts each for the purpose of ticket checking. The special operation was meticulously planned to ensure that there was no impact on the punctuality of the train services. All coaches were thoroughly checked by the ticket checking staff, ensuring that irregular passengers were dealt with strictly in accordance with the Railway rules. The operation was carried out peacefully without any untoward incidents.
The staff deployment for the ambush check included 1 officer (DCM), 1 supervisor (CTI HQ Pune), 28 ticket checking staff, and 13 Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel.
The enforcement outcome of the drive was as follows:
Passengers detected travelling without ticket: 521
Fine collected from without-ticket passengers: ₹1,86,015
Passengers detected with irregular tickets: 62
Penalty recovered from irregular ticket cases: ₹23,435
Passengers detected carrying unbooked luggage: 11
Fine recovered from unbooked luggage cases: ₹1,930
Total number of cases detected: 594
Total fine collected: ₹2,11,380
On average, each ticket checking staff member handled approximately 21 cases and collected ₹7,549 in penalties.
This drive reflects Pune Division’s continuous commitment towards curbing ticketless travel, enhancing revenue, and ensuring discipline across the railway network.
