Pune Rains: Man Dies After Tree Collapses On Him In Erandwane
Pune: A tragic incident occurred in Pune where a young man lost his life after a tree fell on him during heavy rainfall. The incident took place near Alankar Police Chowki in the Karvenagar area. The deceased has been identified as Rahul Joshi.
For the past two to three days, Pune has been experiencing intense rainfall, which has led to several incidents of trees collapsing across the city.
Rahul Joshi was seriously injured when a rotting tree collapsed on him as he was heading towards the Sinhagad Road area. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment but was declared dead upon arrival.
Reports suggest that the tree which fell on Rahul was in a decayed condition. This has raised serious questions about the negligence of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), which failed to take preventive action before the monsoon.
Locals have criticized the PMC for not cutting down weak or potentially hazardous trees and branches in time.
Residents in the area are expressing strong resentment, blaming civic negligence for the untimely death of the youth. They believe that with proper monsoon preparation, such tragic incidents could have been avoided.
This fatal accident has reignited discussions around urban safety measures and the urgent need for timely tree trimming and hazard assessments before the monsoon each year.
