Pune: Rare War Photo Exhibition Commemorates 101st Birth Anniversary of Heroic Soldier Lt Col Ardeshir Tarapore
Pune, August 25, 2025: In a powerful tribute to courage and sacrifice, Sardar Dastur Hoshang Boys High School, Camp, Pune, hosted a rare war photo exhibition in honour of its distinguished alumnus, Lieutenant Colonel Ardeshir Burzorji Tarapore, Param Vir Chakra. The event, organised in collaboration with Olive Green Ventures Foundation, commemorated the 101st birth anniversary of the legendary war hero, who studied at the school from 1934 to 1941.
The exhibition, titled ‘Valour Saga of the Indian Armed Forces’, showcased rare and never-seen-before photographs chronicling India’s military history from the 1947 War of Independence to the Kargil conflict. It honoured both renowned and unsung heroes whose bravery has kept the national flag flying high.
Lieutenant Colonel Tarapore’s heroic saga was immortalised during the Battle of Phillora in the 1965 Indo-Pak War, where, despite grievous injuries, he led his regiment for four days, destroying multiple enemy tanks before making the supreme sacrifice. His indomitable spirit earned him the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military honour.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Behram Pudumjee, President of the Dastur Schools Trust, who emphasised the importance of honour, fortitude, and service. Principal Nisha Sahay urged students to carry forward the legacy of courage, saying, “Every heartbeat of yours must echo gratitude to those who gave theirs for your future.”
