Pune Resident Raises Concern Over Unclear No-Parking Signage In Gultekdi
Pune, October 14, 2025: A resident of Gultekdi has raised concerns after allegedly being overcharged for a two-wheeler traffic challan due to unclear No Parking signage. The board in question, located near the Market Yard branch of Bank of Baroda, is reportedly placed over a tree and is difficult to read, causing confusion among motorists.
The complainant shared the payment receipt along with a photograph of the ambiguous sign with authorities, requesting verification of the fine amount. “I want the concerned authorities to check and take necessary action if my understanding about the challan amount is correct,” the resident said, emphasizing the need for clarity in traffic signage.
The complainant has written to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (traffic) office on October 9 email id – [email protected] seeking clarification.
Local citizens have expressed worry that unclear or unauthorised boards could lead to unnecessary fines and create tension between residents and traffic authorities. Experts note that proper signage is essential for maintaining road discipline and preventing misunderstandings.
Authorities have been urged to inspect the location, ensure the No Parking signage is official and visible, and review the payment system for transparency. Clear placement of traffic boards is critical to avoid disputes and safeguard citizens’ rights.
When Pune Pulse spoke to Shobha Kshirsagar, Swargate traffic division, Pune Traffic Police she stated that this issue has been notified to me for the first time. The matter would be reported to my seniors as well as written to the PMC on priority. This area has a high flow of vehicles due to the Market yard. Motorists are urged to park their vehicles appropriately and under designated parking areas only.
Residents are advised to carefully check all displayed traffic signs and report any discrepancies. Timely action by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Traffic Police could prevent further complaints and improve road safety in the area.
