Pune, October 11, 2025: Residents of Mohammadwadi, Undri, Holkarwadi, Pisoli, Handewadi, Autadewadi, Chintamaninagar, Sayyadnagar, Kalepadal, and surrounding areas under Ward No. 41 have launched a chain hunger strike demanding the immediate activation of long-unused water tanks that have remained non-operational for over a decade.

Despite the construction of several high-capacity water tanks capable of storing lakhs of litres, they have not been connected to the water supply network. Protesters urged the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and concerned departments to complete the pending work and ensure water reaches every household in the affected areas.

The agitation received a response when PMC Deputy Engineer Mukesh Pawar accepted the citizens’ memorandum and assured that the remaining work would be completed within two months, and the tanks would become fully operational.
