The residents of Roseland Residency Housing Society in Pimple Saudagar, Pune, are outraged and concerned over the recent illegal demolition of a 16-year-old protective wall that separated their property from a neighboring plot. The wall was demolished without prior notice, consent, or legal authorization, causing significant distress and disruption to the community.
“We are deeply disturbed by this act of destruction, which not only infringes upon our property rights but also poses a serious risk to the safety and security of our community members,” said Kishor Sonaiya, a committee member of Roseland Residency CHS. “We demand that the responsible parties be held accountable for their actions and that immediate steps be taken to restore the wall to its original state.”
The residents have reported the incident to the relevant authorities and are seeking legal recourse to address this violation of their rights. They are urging the authorities to implement stringent measures to prevent such unlawful actions in the future.
The demolished wall was an essential boundary and security feature, ensuring privacy and protection for the residents. The community is particularly worried about the safety and security of senior citizens and children due to the illegal demolition.
Residents have filed a written complaint with the Sangvi police station and informed local representatives. They reported that a developer unlawfully entered the society’s premises and demolished the compound wall without permission. The movement of construction material-carrying trucks through the area is also causing safety concerns for the 850 residents.
The residents further explained that landowners had provided an office, garden, and private road for use, but no documentation was given, despite repeated requests over the years. Frustrated by the lack of response, the residents approached the police for help.
In May 2024, a meeting was held with police officials, but no action has been taken. Construction trucks continue to travel through areas where senior citizens and children are present, posing a significant threat.
“This is not the first time we have faced issues with the builder,” added Sonaiya. “When our society was constructed, there was no plan to build four new buildings on this premises. However, the builder constructed them anyway, and with the help of the ex-chairman, they were illegally included in our society. Now, we are facing the consequences of their actions. We have taken the matter to court, but the ex-chairman and defense lawyer remain unavailable, and all we get are dates. The addition of another plot has worsened the situation.”
The incident has raised broader concerns about the safety and security of private properties in the area. The residents are demanding immediate action from the authorities to address their concerns and ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.
