Pimpri-Chinchwad | August 1, 2025: Just ahead of the Ganesh festival, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Pune Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar shared major updates for Pune residents, including progress on the Ring Road and Metro projects. He also announced that Ganeshotsav will now be officially recognized as a state festival, with approval granted in the cabinet.

Speaking at an award ceremony for the National Ganesh Festival competition organized by the Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Public Ganpati Trust at the Prof. Ramkrishna More Auditorium in Chinchwad, Pawar emphasized the emotional connection he shares with Pimpri-Chinchwad. He highlighted how the festival brings a positive atmosphere to the city and reiterated the government’s commitment to improving infrastructure.

Pawar acknowledged the difficulty of widening roads and improving transport, saying, “Tough decisions have to be made. It’s not always satisfying, but necessary. I know how many people were inconvenienced when roads were widened in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Now, Ring Road and Hinjewadi development work is underway. People should not be upset if land is acquired—those affected will be compensated.”
