Pune: Rishikesh To Rameswaram Gau Rashtriya Yatra Receives Warm Welcome In City
Pune: With chants of “Gau Mata ki Jai” and “Bharat Mata ki Jai”, the historic 61-day Gau Rashtriya Yatra, aimed at rebuilding a cow-centric India under the slogan *Vande Gaumataram*, was welcomed with great enthusiasm in Pune. The Maharashtra Goseva Commission hosted the reception at its office premises in Aundh. This yatra will cover a total distance of 10,127 kilometers across 12 states of India.
The yatra is being led by Bharat Singh Rajpurohit, President of the Indian Veterinary and Agri Research Institute and Dairy Agri Consultant, along with Narendra Kumar, Founder of the Rashtriya Gau Sevak Sangh. Rohit Kumar Bisht, President of the Rashtriya Gau Sevak Sangh, is also actively participating in the journey.

At the welcome event, Maharashtra Goseva Commission Chairman Shekhar Mundada, members Sanjay Bhosale, Dr. Nitin Markandeya, Member Secretary Dr. Manjusha Pundalik, officers Dr. Sangeeta Kende and Dr. Ashish Pawar, along with the entire commission staff, were present. Officials from the Animal Husbandry Commissioner’s Office, including Joint Commissioner Dr. Shyamkant Patil and Pune Deputy Commissioner Dr. Parihar, also attended. The organizers of the yatra were honored with the traditional *Puneri Pagadi* and shawls in the commission’s hall.
Speaking on the occasion, Bharat Singh Rajpurohit said the issue of cow protection has been left to society, so it is essential for the public to strengthen its role in this cause. He emphasized that the cow should become a symbol of pride for every individual. Rajpurohit praised Maharashtra for declaring the cow as the ‘Rajyamata’ (State Mother) and called for other states to do the same. “We have already been traveling for 42 days and will continue our journey as part of a ‘Gobhar Kranti’ (cow dung revolution),” he added. He lauded the impactful work done by the Maharashtra Goseva Commission in a short time.
Maharashtra Goseva Commission Chairman Shekhar Mundada stated that the yatra is aimed at creating public awareness about preserving indigenous cattle breeds and promoting cow-based farming. “If the cow is saved, the country will be saved,” he said. “We honor three mothers — our biological mother, the motherland (Bharat Mata), and Gau Mata. It is our duty to protect and nurture the cow and accord her the status of the nation’s mother,” he added. Narendra Kumar, Sanjay Bhosale, and Dr. Nitin Markandeya also shared their thoughts.
