Pune, June 10 – In a move to streamline the driving licence process and reduce long wait times, the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) is set to launch three new driving test tracks. These will be located at Dive Ghat near Saswad, Hadapsar, and Alandi Road.

Currently, applicants for two-wheeler licences must visit the Phulewadi RTO, while those seeking four-wheeler or heavy vehicle licences are tested at the Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) near Nashik Phata. Learner’s licence tests are held at the Sangamwadi RTO, with an option for online tests from home. However, the growing number of applicants has led to overcrowding and long waiting periods.

The new centres aim to ease this burden by offering more accessible testing locations, especially for those who live far from Pimpri Chinchwad. For instance, residents of Undri, who previously had to travel nearly 25 kilometres to Kasarwadi, can soon take their test at the upcoming Hadapsar facility.

Each of the new centres will feature modern, sensor-based technology similar to that at IDTR, ensuring automated, accurate, and fair testing. Separate tracks for two-wheelers and four-wheelers will also be in place to manage footfall effectively.

By expanding its infrastructure and improving accessibility, the Pune RTO plans to make the licence testing process faster, more convenient, and efficient for all. These developments are expected to benefit hundreds of applicants every day.
