Pune Municipal Corporation headquarters, where a dispute erupted between a deputy engineer and security guards.

On Wednesday, a deputy engineer at the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) was assaulted by security guards at the entrance of the PMC headquarters. The incident occurred when the engineer refused to display his identity card and insisted on exiting through the entry gate. Following the incident, Additional Municipal Commissioner Prithviraj BP issued orders to conduct a comprehensive investigation. According to reports, a confrontation occurred between the guards and an unidentified deputy engineer when the guards asked him to present his ID card. The engineer failed to do so, resulting in a heated argument between them.

According to PMC officials, the security team at the headquarters includes three transgender individuals among other guards. Tensions escalated when the guards requested the deputy engineer to record his details in the entry register, a request he denied. After the disagreement, things turned violent, and the security guards attacked the deputy engineer.

This is not the first controversy involving the same deputy engineer; a few months earlier, he had been suspended for inappropriate conduct towards another civic staff member. The investigation ordered by Prithviraj BP aims to uncover the full details of the latest incident and address the issues underlying the conflict at PMC headquarters.
