Pimpri-Chinchwad, September 30, 2025: In a heartwarming display of community spirit during September’s Pitru Paksha, Seva Vardhini’s “Ek Muthi Anaaj” campaign collected and distributed a staggering 18,278 kilograms of grain. Residents from Pimple Saudagar, Rahatani, Wakad, and nearby areas joined hands to turn ancestral remembrance into a life-sustaining gesture for the needy.

Coinciding with the rare alignment of Sarvapitra Amavasya and Pitru Paksha, this year’s campaign held deep cultural and spiritual significance. Thousands of volunteers transformed the act of annadaan into a collective prayer, blending tradition with service.

The campaign reached 33,000 families across 84 housing societies. Over 700 volunteers, including 30 core contributors, spent seven hours meticulously collecting, sorting, weighing, and distributing the grain. Every contribution was digitally recorded, and participating societies received transparent reports of their donations, reinforcing accountability and community pride.

The donated grain was delivered to four under-resourced institutions in Ambedve, Dapoli, and Kumble, directly benefiting 305 orphaned children and elderly individuals. For recipients, the gesture symbolized dignity, love, and remembrance.

Campaign leaders reflected on the initiative:

  • Vinod Patil (President): “Annadaan during Pitru Paksha is our soul’s gratitude to society.”
  • Abhay Baviskar (Secretary): “Food donation is the foundation of compassion and culture.”
  • Aniket Deshmukh (Secretary): “Feeding the needy in memory of ancestors is true Shraddha.”
  • Vivek Vijay Kasat (Campaign Representative): “Thousands of palms joined in a collective prayer, turning annadaan into a heartfelt experience.”

Over the past four years and three months, Seva Vardhini has distributed 238,290 kilograms of grain, serving 780 destitute children and elderly individuals every day. The “Ek Muthi Anaaj” campaign stands as a testament that when tradition meets teamwork, compassion transforms lives.
