Pune: Seven Killed, Several Injured As Pickup Van Falls Into Gorge Near Kundeshwar Temple
Pimpri Chinchwad Police have confirmed that seven people lost their lives and several others were injured in a tragic accident in Faplawadi village on Monday, 11 August 2025.
The incident occurred on the auspicious occasion of Shravan Monday, when a group of women and children from the village, located under the jurisdiction of Mahalunge MIDC Police Station, were travelling to the Kundeshwar Temple for darshan.
According to officials, the group was travelling in a pickup van bearing registration number MH 14 GD 7299. Around mid-morning, the vehicle reportedly lost control and plunged 25 to 30 feet down a slope. The impact left multiple passengers with serious injuries, while some died on the spot.
Rescue teams, along with local residents, rushed to the site and assisted in pulling the injured from the wreckage. The victims were quickly shifted to different hospitals for treatment. As of now, several injured individuals remain under medical care, with their condition being closely monitored by doctors.
Police have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Authorities have urged drivers to exercise extreme caution, especially on hilly or uneven routes, to avoid such devastating tragedies in the future.
