Pune: Sharp Decline In Arts Stream, Pass Rate Raises Concerns Among Educators In HSC 2025 Results
Pune | May 6, 2025 — This year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) results have triggered concern among educators, especially over a continued drop in the passing percentage in the arts stream. The pass rate for arts has declined to 80.52% in 2025, a significant fall from 90.51% in 2022, marking a 10% drop over four years.
In 2024, the arts stream recorded a pass percentage of 85.88%, which was slightly better than the 84.05% in 2023. However, this year’s figure signals a worrying trend that stakeholders say cannot be ignored.
Several factors might be at play here — the effectiveness of teaching methods, the dedication of students, and the academic environment in junior colleges all need to be evaluated.
The declining interest in arts-related careers, combined with a thriving coaching culture focused on science and commerce streams, has contributed to the fall in performance.
