Pune, July 17, 2025: A shopkeeper in Bhukum was brutally assaulted by a gang demanding extortion late on Sunday night. The incident, which took place around 10 PM on July 13, falls under the jurisdiction of Bavdhan Police Station.

The victim, Govind Yadav (45), a resident of Bhukum, lodged a complaint leading to a case being filed against Yusuf Shaikh (24, Pirangut), Rishikesh Kamble (21, Pirangut), Krishna Kamble (19, Lavale Phata), Prajwal Mudal (19, Lavale Phata), along with Kalicharan Thakur, Gotya Bhai, Sahil Sangle, and three to four unidentified accomplices.

According to police, the gang barged into Yadav’s shop and threatened him, saying, “If you want to keep your shop here, pay Rs 5 lakh and Rs 20,000 every month.” When Yadav and his son resisted, the attackers assaulted them with punches, kicks, and verbal abuse.

One suspect stabbed Yadav in the shoulder, while another injured his son in the thigh. The gang forcibly took Yadav’s mobile phone, demanded its passcode, and transferred Rs 90,000 using Google Pay and PhonePe. They also stole Rs 10,000 in cash from his pockets, bringing the total loot to Rs 1.04 lakh.

Bavdhan Police have arrested four accused—Yusuf, Rishikesh, Krishna, and Prajwal—and are pursuing the others. An investigation is underway.
