Pune: SIFF Honors Bus Drivers and Conductors on Father’s Day at PMC Bus Stand
Celebrating Their Hard Work and Sacrifices On 15th June 2025, the Save Indian Family Foundation (SIFF) organized a heartfelt celebration of Father’s Day at the PMC Bus Stand, recognizing the unsung heroes of our lives—bus drivers and conductors. These hardworking individuals ensure the smooth functioning of public transport, often sacrificing personal time with their families.
This grand event, held on Sunday, June 15, was a tribute to their dedication, reminding everyone of the invaluable presence of fathers in shaping our lives. A Celebration of Love and Sacrifice The atmosphere was brimming with emotion and joy as SIFF activists distributed gifts such as pens, Key- chains and diaries to fathers working at the bus depot. Over 300 gifts found their way into the hands of grateful fathers and their children, symbolizing appreciation for their tireless efforts. Activists also engaged with families, conducting interviews and interactions to capture heartfelt messages of love and respect for fathers.
Holding banners to raise awareness about the importance of Father’s Day, more than 50 volunteers made sure that the significance of fatherhood resonated deeply with attendees. Adding a special touch to the occasion, every father was presented with a fresh rose— a powerful symbol of love and gratitude. This simple yet meaningful gesture highlighted the warmth and respect that fathers deserve in our society.
Recognizing Fathers Facing Separation
Amidst the festivities, the event also welcomed fathers who have been alienated from their children due to legal battles and personal circumstances. Many had not seen their biological children in years, yet they found solace and inspiration in the celebration. SIFF emphasized that fatherhood is irreplaceable, playing a crucial role in a child’s development, resilience, and life lessons. Fathers instill strength, patience, and determination—qualities essential for overcoming life’s challenges.
A Powerful Message of Awareness
One of the bus driver, Ankush Shinde, shared his thoughts on the day’s significance: “We were not very aware of Father’s Day before, but thanks to the SIFF activists, we now understand its importance. I am truly grateful to the volunteers for enlightening us about this special day”. FAMILY means ‘Father Mother I Love You,’ says SIFF President Rajesh Vakhariya, calling for equal treatment of fathers and mothers in all aspects. He urges the Government and Judiciary to end gender discrimination and recognize the equal role both parents play in a child’s life. SIFF stands for fairness, shared parenting, and justice for fathers everywhere! This brings to point of discussion about married Men suicides. Suicide rate among Indian Men is 2.5 times higher than women in India. (Source – NCRB Data 2022)
As per National Crime Records Bureau 122,724 people committed suicide in India in the year 2022. 32% of these suicides are due to family reasons, matrimonial disputes and litigations.
An estimated 3 to 3.5 crore men have faced domestic violence in India and lakhs of them have suffered from trauma, lack of self-esteem and suicidal thoughts. An estimated 250,000 children are getting separated from their fathers every single year due to matrimonial disputes or divorce. Parental Alienation Syndrome (PAS) has emerged as a serious psychological issue affecting children due to divorce and marital disputes, leading to mental health struggles and behavioural problems.
On the occasion of Father’s Day, Sagar Gunthal, Counsellor of SIFF Maharashtra Chapter, has urged the Government and Judiciary to take immediate action by enforcing Shared Parenting Plans across all district courts. SIFF emphasizes that fatherhood is irreplaceable, and children deserve the love and guidance of both parents. Father’s Day 2025 serves as a reminder that shared parenting is not just a legal necessity but a fundamental right for every child.

SIFF Demands on Father’s day:
1. End glorification of single parenting – Studies show children in single-parent families face higher risks of behavioral issues and abuse.
2. Separate Ministry for Children – A dedicated ministry, independent of the Women’s Ministry, is essential for child welfare.
3. Punish Parental Alienation – Courts must penalize parents who manipulate children against the other parent.
4. Encourage Co-Parenting – Custodial parents must actively involve the other parent; failure to do so should result in fines or legal action.
5. Right to Video Calls – Children must have the right to communicate with their fathers via video conferencing, with strict enforcement by courts.
6. Mandatory Parenting Plans – Family courts must implement structured parenting plans before ruling on maintenance or alimony.
