Pune: Six major roads in Mohammadwadi, Kondhwa remain inaccessible for residents, causes immense inconvenience

Under the name of development, several roads in the NIBM Annexe, Mohammadwadi, Kondhwa area at present have remained out of bounds for the local residents. 

This has not only caused inconvenience to many but these closures may soon become a permanent headache if the road problems are not resolved by the Pune Municipal Corporation. 

1. Sunshree Kangan to Cloud 9 – The road work on the left side has remained incomplete for the past 1.5 years now. This has led to severe congestion on the road during weekends. 

2. Just a little ahead, the concretization of road from Elina Living to Raheja Premiere circle is being undertaken by PMC where half road is closed. 

3. The road construction work is undergoing from Raheja Vista Premiere to KP Stellar building which may get over by mid June approximately 

4. Little ahead towards Dorabjee Paradise Bunglow society to KP Stellar (Rich Street Cafe) the road has been closed by PMC as the high tension wires crossing over the bridge may lead to major accident 

5. Just two days ago, the road from Marvel Sangria has been dug up to lay water pipeline despite the PMC’s ruling that no work should be taken up newly post April 30.

6. Road from Somji Bus Stop (D Mart, Kondhwa Budruk) to Punyadham Ashram has been severely neglected as it’s a total bumpy ride from start to end. 

7. Clover Highlands to Clover Hills Plaza near Bizbay Mall, the road is half closed as PMC is undertaking work to reduce the gradient, the road is closed for the past 3.5 months 

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Pratik Batra, a resident of Kumar Palmsprings said that PMC has taken up the work of digging cement road only by May 15 when the PMC rule book says that no new road work should start post April 30. 

Adv Kishor Baligar, Secretary, Dorabjee Paradise Bunglow society said, “Permanent closure of road approaches from D Mart to Dorabjee Paradise Gate to Lavanya hotel.

The Pune Municipal Corporation closed road permanently. This road with bridge was constructed recently by spending crores of rupees. MSEDCL has a directed PMC to close the road as the road surface is less than 11.7 metres from the High tension cable.”

Pune Pulse contacted Aniruddha Pawaskar, head, road department, Pune Municipal Corporation about the road digging work near Marvel Sangria he informed that PMC depts are given permissions for

infrastructure projects.  

Baligar added,”Lack of proper co-ordination between PMC and MSEDCL has caused serious inconvenience to the local residents. Now, only road left which goes from D Mart to Dorabjee gate to Star Bazaar, which is the most inconvenient road. Now there will be mess due traffic issues.”

With the monsoon approaching in the next two weeks, these road work don’t seem to get complete by then causing immense traffic congestion on these roads causing severe inconvenience to the residents hampering their daily travel. 

Another resident of the area complained that it is high time PMC provides us with the services.  Keeping all roads under construction at once isn’t a well planned decision. Why are concrete roads being dug up ? Why is tax payers money being misused ??
