Pune, October 9, 2025: A major accident involving a school bus occurred near Kambale Stop on the Pune–Solapur Highway on Wednesday morning. The bus, carrying around 60 students, was travelling towards Solapur when iron rods loaded dangerously on a pickup vehicle pierced through the rear window of the bus, resulting in serious injuries to eight students and one teacher.

A case was filed in the Uruli Kanchan police station by the school bus driver against the truck driver. The accident took place at Sortapwadi located on the Pune Solapur highway. The school bus driver in order to save a motorcycle man suddenly applied brakes, which resulted in the piercing of iron rods into the school bus. The 70 year old motorcyclist also sustained severe injuries and is being treated at a private hospital in Loni Kalbhor.

Preliminary reports indicate that the accident was caused by the unsafe transportation of construction material. The pickup truck was carrying iron rods that extended dangerously outside the vehicle, violating basic road safety norms. Upon impact, the rods shattered the bus’s rear glass and entered the cabin, injuring several children. The injured students were given immediate medical attention.
